The story of the water drop

by

This 12 months, I’m working with 6- to 7-year-old college students. They love tales loads and are very curious and kind-hearted, desirous to be taught and become involved. Due to this fact, I proposed to them to have a good time World Water Day by a collection of actions by which they discovered the story of the water drop.

I used the graphic organizer “I do know / I wish to know / I discovered” and I wrote down what they already knew about water and what they needed to know.

To know what water is, I guided the scholars by a number of experiments that challenged them to turn out to be little scientists, and I identified the next information about water: it’s a flowing liquid physique, it takes the form of the vessel during which it’s positioned, it has no coloration, style, and odor whether it is clear, it’s clear, it’s all over the place within the physique of individuals, animals, and vegetation. We highlighted, with the assistance of the mirror, the existence of water vapor within the exhaled air so kids understood that water may be in several states of aggregation and, below sure circumstances, passes from one state of aggregation to a different naturally or below human motion. I additionally confirmed them water vapor popping out of a pot during which the water boiled, the way it condensed on the chilly lid, and the way ice cubes melted of their heat palms. I used academic sources to retain the information they gained by experiments, but in addition to emphasise the significance of water for all times on our planet:

Kids love teamwork, coloring, and slicing, they know how one can learn. I continued the exercise with the creation of a guide “The story of the water drop”. After coloring and slicing, they assembled the booklet by inserting the pages within the appropriate order in keeping with the water circuit in nature after which they learn the story of the water drop. In the long run, we practiced saving water by washing our palms correctly, we made drawings in groups, Chatterpix movies, and WordArt phrase clouds with messages concerning the significance of water and the necessity to reserve it. We additionally performed a WordWall sport on this matter. The pedagogical worth of the exercise resided in the truth that actions had been linked with real-life experiences and fashioned abilities similar to crucial pondering, inventive pondering, collaboration, communication, info, communication, and know-how (ICT).  This type of actions needs to be used as a result of project-based studying turns college students into small scientists who be taught by doing, and who will higher perceive the worth of water and the significance of saving it. This type of studying modified their minds from an empty field right into a laboratory of concepts.
